Philippine Navy AW109 Power Helicopter Firepower

The AW109 Power is a three-tonne class eight-seat twin engine helicopter, which features a combination of weapon systems, according to supplier Agusta Westland.

Last December 2013, Philippines received and inaugurated  the first batch of AW109 Power Helicopter  and immediately turn over to Philippine Navy.

The Philippines AW-109 Power Helicopter have the following Capability

• Forward looking infrared (FLIR)- FLIR - uses an imaging technology that senses infrared radiation
• Search-and-rescue  (SAR) capability
• Fitted with a night vision gear

The last batch of AW-109 Power choppers will arrive in the first quarter of 2014. The helicopters would also be equipped with .50 caliber machineguns and rocket launchers.
